Once I got to know this man, I realized he was so much more than “those really nice legs”, yes those legs tell you somewhat about him as in that he is devoted to working out and being healthy, but there is so much more. Your Daddy told me that the girl he would marry would have to be someone he pictured to be a good mom. I thought this a good philosophy and quickly realized that this man would very much be a wonderful dad one day. He possessed all the qualities I thought a good father would have; intelligent, soft spoken, easy going, funny, loving, faithful, and warm.Little Lukas will be having his open heart surgery tomorrow, I so distinctly remember the day we handed our new baby over to have her open heart surgery. Although very scary, I knew God was with my little girl, guiding the surgeon’s hands just like he will for Lukas tomorrow. Please pray for a successful surgery and speedy recovery!
Your daddy has surpassed what I could have ever imagined a dad to become. From the moment in the hospital when your heart rate began to drop, to when you got a fever after your surgery he has been your biggest protector there is. When mommy was weak, he was strong. He never doubted for a second how strong his little girl is and helped mommy realize this, too. The soft spoken, funny guy took on a new role, that of great protector. I can guarantee if there is anyone who “has your back” in this life it will be your daddy. There is no messing around with him and his daughter, Audrina your dad has the instinct of a father bear with his cub when it comes to you. In your daddy and I’s relationship I never saw this side of him, but now realize this is exactly the type of man God planned for us and our life. A strong, loving man that will go up for bat for his girls in an instant.

Your daddy is also very hard working. He opened his chiropractic business the month we became pregnant with you and we had our busiest month the one you were in the hospital. He ran the business all by himself each day. On his hour drive to and from work, after a 10-12 hour day he came to the hospital to sit by your side. Even when I would insist he would go home and rest, he never missed a visit with you. He works hard every day and says that he works so hard for us (you will learn your daddy is a very frugal man, who does not need much, unlike mommy he never shops for himself, a $10 Ross shirt may be the highlight of his shopping year!). He has given me the gift of being able to stay at home with you (except when we go to the office with him, but your still with me even if I’m “working”). He will always protect and provide for us, Audrina, we are very lucky he is ours:)

Today we started his first Father’s Day with a beautiful trip to the beach. Right now we live about 10 minutes from Fort Desoto. You are such a little beach bunny! You are amazing at the beach, I got to lay out and daddy swam. You even love the ocean, who would have thought bringing an 8 month old to the beach would be fun. Then we came home and prepared a Father’s Day feast. You love being in the kitchen with me, you have your own bowl and spoon and love to “help”. We made lasagna, with home made sauce and chocolate cheesecake (all from scratch!). Your Gigi, Gramps and Aunt Brooke came over to enjoy the feast and we had a wonderful night. We are all full with love and happiness. Happy 1st Father’s Day to great legs Daddy Nye-haha!!!! ( We went to the Dali Museum yesterday, that is where the bottom picture is from).

You, Audrina are on the move and SO talkative!!!! Your baby babble is hilarious and almost comprehensible! You are very sweet, too always loving to cuddle and snuggle. You eat anything! You loved the homemade spaghetti sauce today, this week you also had some pot roast and loved it. You are still primarily breast fed, but I think its important that you begin to learn about different tastes and textures. My one pet peeve is a picky eater, I don’t think I have to worry about that with you! (You fell asleep mid dinner this week- so funny!)

The Guy with the Really Nice Legs
That would be your daddy, Audrina. Or the first thing I ever said to your daddy about 9 years ago, “”you have really nice legs!” Haha! Your daddy thought, “this girl is pretty cute and funny”. And such is history…. 9 years later we all celebrated the man with the really nice legs first Father’s Day today.
